About Ohio Septic Directory

Ohio Septic Directory is an independent directory of septic pumping, installation and service companies in all 88 Ohio counties. It's for homeowners, buyers and sellers who need a tank pumped, a system inspected or a new system put in, and want to know who does the work before they call.

How the directory works

Every business is listed for free. A listing starts from a public record: a Google business listing, the Ohio Department of Health's bond lists for septage haulers, installers and service providers, or both. If a business has a website, we read it for its services, the counties it serves and any prices it publishes. Then we write the description in our own words.

A badge means we matched the business to one of the Ohio Department of Health's bond lists. It shows the date of that list. The bond list is statewide. Septic contractors also register with the local health district in each county where they work, so ask a business about its registration for your county. A listing without a badge means we have not matched it to a bond list yet, not that the business is unbonded. Read how listings are vetted.

Our guides to septic pumping, septic installation and septic service link to the Ohio rules they rely on, so you can check them yourself.

How the site is paid for

Businesses can pay to appear in the Featured section at the top of a page. Paid listings are always labeled Featured. Paying never changes a business's rating, its badges or what its listing says. After the Featured section, listings are ordered by Google rating weighted by the number of reviews. See advertising options.

What we are not

We don't pump tanks, install systems, take bookings or collect payment for jobs. We don't inspect anyone's work, check insurance or guarantee results. We are not affiliated with the Ohio Department of Health or any local health district.

How we use AI

We used AI tools to help gather and summarize business information and to draft parts of this site. Every listing is checked against its sources, and every rule in our guides is checked against the law or agency page it cites.

Corrections and contact

Business owners can claim their listing to correct it, and a septic business that isn't listed yet can use the same form to be added. Anyone can report a mistake or ask a question through our contact page or at hello@ohiosepticdirectory.com. A person reads every message.
